Charlie’s El Nido

Charlie’s El Nido is a sustainable eco-hotel in the Philippines promoting green practices like recycling, organic farming, and paperless operations.

We at Charlie’s El Nido are committed to our journey towards sustainability and environment-friendly hotel operations. We continue to incorporate new practices that help us uphold our steadfast commitment to the planet and are always looking for “green” innovations in the industry.

Charlies El Nido x Kalawili Farms

Our all-around focus on recycling has blossomed into a collaboration with Kalawili Farms, wherein food leftovers are converted to natural fertilizers. In conjunction with adopting the farm-to-table concept, we use our organic produce from our garden as meu ingredients. We’ve also partnered with Nanette Medved’s Hope-In-A-Box, a purified water product that we sell at Charlie’s El Nido, with a portion of the revenue allotted for constructing community schools all over the Philippines.

From the beginning, Charlie’s El Nido has practiced garbage segregation, and we continue to do so today for both recyclable and non-recyclable waste. As part of our sustainability efforts, we implement BYOC or Bring Your Own Cup to our outlets, Charlie’s Kubo and Liam’s Beach Cafe, if ordering beverages. They will get PhP10-discount on their ordered beverage. This is to promote less usage of single-use products.

Charlie’s El Nido Hotel Tech

Riding the wave of the digital age, going paperless is a must. The majority of our hotel transactions and administrative processes have gone digital, lessening the use of paper at all steps of our operations. We have also lessened the need for printed materials such as compendiums, tent cards, and menus through QR codes. Hallway water dispensers have been installed, and we’ve done away with single-use plastics, such as water bottles, and replaced them with reusable glassware and refilling stations.

Inside guest rooms, we’ve sourced recyclable slippers, which are disinfected regularly for the safety of all guests. Additionally, to help preserve water and control the daily laundry of towels and linens, we encourage guests to utilize hotel signage to prompt housekeeping attendants when changing linens and towels is required. Lastly, we use paper bags instead of plastic for every item sold in the hotel and recycle all our used paper.

Charlie’s El Nido participates in private and government-initiated programs such as tree planting and the International Coastal Clean-up Drive. These are all small but meaningful ways to play our part in preserving our environment, but this is just the beginning. With the help from you, our valued guests, and the El Nido community, we can make a difference, hoping our efforts will go a long way in making a lasting positive effect on Mother Earth.
