Introduction to Surf in El Nido
Considered one of the world’s top islands visitors are continually surprised to know that Palawan is scattered with secluded empty beaches. One such location is Duli Beach which is slowly picking up on the tourism radar. However, it is still years behind the fame of Nacpan or Maremegmeg Beach. This 2 kilometer shoreline gives a great glimpse into the diversity of beaches in El Nido as the go to surf spot in the north!
When you thinking of surfing in the Philippines you are immediately given impressions of Cloud 9 in Siargao. However, if you find yourself in El Nido during the Amihan season you will get a lovely swells perfect for beginner and intermediate surf lessons. You won’t get huge waves you’ll find in Siargao. But you will get the serenity of a quite beach, especially if you go on the northern end of the beach (right side from when you enter the beach).
Waveless Days
No waves? No problem. You can still hire paddle boards and kayaks. Go just around the rocky corner of the beach and snorkel with sea turtles. Ask the locals there and they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
This gorgeous stretch of coastline becomes a haven for local surfers and tourists willing to brave the off-the-beaten-path between October-April. The bumpy roads get very muddy after some rain and can be difficult to navigate on a motorbike.
