Helicopter Island (Dilumacad Island)

Dilumacad Island is sometimes referred to as Yoshi, Jollibee Chicken Joy, Homer Simpson or Helicopter Island.

This island is great for snorkeling, is stomping grounds for nesting turtles, and has an environmental and conservation information board set up by the Asian Conservation Foundation and the El Nido Resorts group. (see Turtle Hatcheries in El Nido)

Rainy Season Considerations, Tour C: The Cancelled Tour

While this is the second most popular tour in Bacuit Bay and arguably the most beautiful during the summer season (March/April/May) it’s a bit of a change once the rains come. During the rainy season this isn’t the most pleasant tour to be taken. Often times especially when there is any wind coming in this is the first tour to get cancelled. Even when weather conditions seem calm in town it can still get a bit rough especially from July-October, the middle of the rainy season. Due note that we’ve had longer rainy seasons as a result of climate change. Even in non-rainy season months, the largest consideration for this tour getting cancelled is the wind.
Given its location an exposure to a more open sea this tour is the first one to get cancelled when the weather it too rough. If you are one to get easily seasick skip this one. The other tours have their own beauty. Tour operators get an update from the Coast Guard each morning at around 7am. There have been times when Tour C goes out but then boats are called in early, sometimes as early as 1 or 2 pm. This of course, if for your own safety. This is also a great time to remind guests to always wear life-vest.
